I LOVE having Tina Time Mentoring Sessions! I get to meet the most wonderful ladies! …Ladies who are either just starting out with photography, or ladies who already have a business going, but just want some extra help.
Two days ago, I had the privilege of mentoring Paige, a photographer from SC. Paige loves to photograph weddings, but wanted some extra help with posing brides. I thought a lovely vintage shoot would be wonderful for us to shoot together as part of my 8 hour day with her.
When Paige arrived at my home, it was like meeting an old friend! She is simply delightful.
During our 8 hours together, we talked about nearly all aspects of photographing people… from camera settings, to lighting, positioning subjects, choosing backgrounds, etc. We even spent an hour in my office going through how I edit a photo.
And then for the really fun part… putting it all into practice! I love to set up a fun photo shoot… one where both Paige + I photograph, + we talk through what we are doing + why. So far, everyone has said that this has been extremely helpful, putting into practice all that we have talked about during the day.
Here are some of the photos I took during our vintage shoot…

All of the vintage dresses shown were provided by my lovely friend Jill Gooding, with the exception of one…
This long creamy wedding gown was my grandmother’s. She’s now 96 and as sweet as ever! I don’t get to see my grandmother much any more. She lives in Washington State + I’m out here in NC, but growing up, I spent time with her every week. She is one of the most creative people I know! From painting, to projects, to putting on plays, to flower arranging, to having her own TV show… she’s done it all! And won awards for her work, too! She’s been completely blind for several years now, + has never seen any of my photos. I sure wish she could see Natalie in her stunning gown! I’ll be sure to tell her all about it…
