I LOVE teaching photography!

Last week I had an 8 hour mentoring session with Pam.  At the end of our day together, I had a photo shoot lined up for some hands-on practice.  Pam is already taking great photos, but she just wanted some extra advice to take her skills to the next level.

And then…  at the end of our 8 hour day together, we headed off to our shoot.  I had 3 models lined up + a fabulous location.  But as we drove there, the rain began to fall.  And fall.  And then the thunder + lightning came!  We had to postpone the shoot until the next afternoon.  2 of our models were now not able to be in our shoot.  So, frantically, I began calling + e-mailing MANY people, trying to find some models for us for that next afternoon.  And, praise God!, it all came together.

During a Mentoring Session like this, I am taking photos along side the other photographer.  I’m sharing with her my camera settings + how I’m wanting to move the models for the lighting conditions.  This was a BEAUTIFUL sunny day + we couldn’t have asked for a prettier setting.  Here are some of the images I took of one of our models, Nerissia…

Pam brought along this dress to go with the look of our shoot.  Nerissia thought it made her look ‘old’ + frumpy, but we all LOVED it on her!  It’s exactly the dress I’d want to wear!  Does that mean I’m old + frumpy?  hee hee  Nerissia, I don’t think it’s POSSIBLE to make you look bad! 

So cute!

Ahhhh…  so BEAUTIFUL!

And here’s a few of Megan.  Megan was only able to join us at the beginning of our shoot, but we LOVED having her be a part of this!  You may remember Megan from her senior photos last year.

After that, we headed along the beach + found a great little place for some lunch.

Before heading home, we played on the beach with some friends, Chyah + Cheira.  It was Chyah’s 6th birthday + we were THRILLED to get to celebrate it with her! 

Ahhh…  such a fun day!

There’s Joey Lassiter, Jeremy Stewart…

Here’s some information about these guys…

Set For The Fall was established in September 2011 with the original line-up consisting of Dan Ring, Joey Picerno, and Jeremy Stewart.  In February 2012, Joey Lassiter was asked to become a member of the band as lead vocals.  The band immediately submersed themselves into writing with one purpose, to bring a truthful message of how God can transform any person from any walk of life to become an instrument in God’s unfailing plan.  Set For The Fall’s sound can be described as hard driving choruses mixed with melodic vocals and punchy rhythms.  The band’s name came from scripture Luke 2:34 NKJV.  They explain Set For The Fall as simply being prepared for the day of judgment.  The band’s objective is to paint a picture on the canvas of music of how God in all of his power and mercy reached into four broken men’s lives and rebuilt them as soldiers to change the world and reach a generation that has become blind to their relentless sinful nature.

Well, on the day of the shoot, just moments before leaving my home, I got a call letting me know that there was a mix-up about the costumes.  Two of the girls had planned on wearing their other outfit from the play (the dancing ones), + now did not have access to the costume I had planned for.  So…  as I rushed out the door, I grabbed two shirts out of my closet that I thought may possibly fit the girls.  And one of the moms, Connie, brought along a couple of skirts for the girls.  They were not the DYNAMITE outfits that Katelyn Lick had coordinated, but it was still a wonderfully cute shoot.

This next shot, no one was “ready” for.  But I thought it was SO CUTE that they all sat sitting the same way, so I just HAD to post it.  This makes me smile! 

Paige, Sam, Alyssa + Lily, it was SO FUN photographing you!!!  You are BEAUTIFUL!!!  And to all the moms, it was WONDERFUL getting to know you!!!

Mockingbird, a super cute shop in Southern Pines, offering fun items for ladies, children + the home.  The owner, Sundi McLaughlin, provided the ADORABLE aprons for the shoot!  SO CUTE!!!

Pastimes, a WONDERFUL store in West End, selling all kinds of fun + antique items for the home.  The vintage phones, magazines + cooking utensils were all found a Pastimes!

Medleyanna’s, a CUTE little ‘junk’ shop in West End for providing the mirror.  I seem to always find cute things at Medleyanna’s!

Paige’s mom, Tanya, who was a MAJOR help with our props!  She brought the cute suitcases, that ADORABLE hat + the mixing bowl.  Thank you, Tanya!!!

Erin, for letting us use her SUPER COOL vintage camera for this shoot!  Thanks girl!!!

Sheila Perrotta, a FABULOUS photographer who I LOVE working with!!!  (I had a Tina Time Mentoring Session with her last May.)  Sheila helped put this shoot together + she took photos right alongside me.  THANKS, Sheila!

It’s easy to adore this senior in high school.  She’s bubbly + fun + sweet.  And…  she loves photography!

Erin is BEAUTIFUL!  It was seriously hard to get a bad shot! I can’t even tell you which shots are my favorites because I love them all so much!

You’ll hopefully be seeing more of Erin on my blog, because I just may BEG her to be a model for me!
